Media icon Oprah Winfrey and Great Britain’s Prince Harry are working together on a new television series for Apple TV platform addressing the problems of mental health.
The TV series which will take the form of a multi-part documentary is scheduled for 2020 and will be co-created as well as produced by the Duke of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey, aims to inspire its viewers to have an “honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces.”
According to a statement by Kensington Palace, the project will try to give people “the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive.”
On his feelings about the project, Prince Harry said: “I truly believe that good mental health — mental fitness — is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self. It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times.”
“Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive — sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better,” he added.
The collaboration began when Oprah was having a discussion with the prince and asked him what he thought the most important problems facing the word were. Winfrey revealed: “He said there were two. He said climate change and he said mental wellness, mental fitness, mental health.” At the end of the conversation, they had decided to work together.
