Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has been granted bail in the sum of N1 million by a court of competent jurisdiction in Kwara State.
The bail was granted on Monday when the singer was arraigned in court by the Police in the case involving alleged defamation of character, intimidation, inciting public disturbance and cyberstalking.
The court granted the singer bail in the sum of ₦1,000,000, contingent upon the provision of two sureties, each equally responsible for the bail amount.

One surety must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), while the other must hold a valid Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property within a Government Reserved Area (GRA).
Confirming the court’s decision, Portable’s legal representative, Isaac Adebayo, noted that the bail was granted after an oral application.
“Though the condition is a bit stringent, we will meet up. He was asked to provide the Kwara State Chairman of PMAN as a surety, another person with a landed property in GRA, and one million naira in like sum,” Adebayo explained.

The case against Portable stems from a petition filed by fellow musician Saheed Osupa, accusing him of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination and actions likely to cause a breach of peace.
