Subscription site, OnlyFans, popular for hosting pornography, has announced it will ban all sexually explicit photos and videos on the site as from October 1.

Creators will still be able to post nude content on the site. However, they need I to be consistent with OnlyFans’ policies.

The London-based social media site revealed that this change came after pressure from banking partners. According to it, the site has grown it has 130 million users. In a statement, OnlyFans stated,

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines.”

The subscription site enables people to post videos and photos and charges subscribers for tips or a monthly fee. In return for hosting the material, OnlyFans takes a 20% share of all payments.

People can post any picture or video on OnlyFans site but it is best known for pornography.

There have been concerns in the past that OnlyFans has some “tolerance” for accounts posting illegal content. However, the site has argued otherwise.

In 2016, businessman Tim Stokely founded the site. Reports in june showed that  people under the age of 18 had used fake identification to set up accounts on the site. The minors even went as far to sell explicit videos on the site, despite it being illegal for people to share indecent images of children.

Following this, the children’s commissioner for England said OnlyFans needed to do more to stop underage users. Responding to the investigation, OnlyFans said it had closed the accounts flagged and refunded all active subscriptions.

In July, the company released its first monthly transparency report. In the report, it revealed that it had deactivated 15 OnlyFans accounts after finding indecent images of children on those accounts.
