Funke Akindele’s box office hit Omo Ghetto has broken box office records again; as it is now the first Nollywood film to ever cross the ₦500 million mark.
Last month, Omo Ghetto became the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time after it surpassed Kemi Adetiba’s The Wedding Party; smashing its 4-year record. According to a CEAN report, the movie has maintained the number one spot for six weeks in a row.
To add to its impressive feats, Omo Ghetto has now broken Nollywood’s box office record with a cumulative revenue of ₦501,449,050. Kemi Adetiba‘s 2016 comedy film The Wedding Party follows behind with ₦453,000,000; while The Wedding Party 2 takes third place with ₦433,197,377.

Released on Christmas day 2020, the movie is a sequel to 2010 trilogy Omo Ghetto. The movie follows the story of Shalewa aka Lefty (Funke Akindele). Lefty struggles between living a life of wealth and comfort provided by her adopted mother or returning to her ghetto lifestyle.
Akindele who produced and co-directed the film played the dual role of Ayomide and Lefty. She starred alongside Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Thomas, Eniola Badmus; Deyemi Okanlawon, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, Alex Ekubo among others.
