During the lockdown, Olivia Rodrigo elevated from Disney star to international pop sensation. Some say her fame grew overnight. Olivia proves she was made for this.

Her debut single – Drivers License – was a mournful ballad about lost love and young heartbreak. The influence of TikTok seemingly blew the song overnight. With the music video garnering over 200 million views on YouTube and over 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Solidifying her position in the pop music industry, she released her debut album, Sour, in May. A compilation of heartbreak anthems, ranging from fast-paced to melodious ballads.

Rodrigo, over the past months, has made a name for herself at only 18 years old. Sour smashed various records, charting at number one on the billboard 200.


All eleven songs from her album charted on the top 30 of billboard hot 100.

Sour also set the new mark for the largest week, in terms of units, for an act’s debut album, beating Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy in 2018.

Before “Drivers License”, Olivia was popular with the kids. Rodrigo worked on the Disney shows “Bizaardvark” and “High School Musical: The Musical The Series” The multitalented singer wrote and performed original songs on the shows.

In an interview with GQ, the good 4 u singer confessed that she was ecstatic about her overnight fame.

Responding to a question about the surrealism of her fame, she said;

“Oh, my God. Totally. I think it was actually awesome, because there was this lack of pressure.”

The 18-year old star is here to stay, and she has no plan to stop.

“I’m so proud of my generation and the way that people have come together and not put up with bullshit that has been put up with for so many years.”
