The music video for Nigerian entertainer Olamide‘s 2019 song Wonma is stirring up anger among nurses on social media. Members of the nursing profession have criticised the rapper for sexualising nurses in the new visuals.
Under the trending hashtag #NursesAreNotSexualObjects, nurses and allies are condemning Olamide’s Wonma video for being overtly sexual. The video shows women in nurse uniforms dancing seductively and performing sex acts on their male patients in what looks like a mental institution.
Following the massive backlash, the rapper has since deleted the video from his YouTube channel and his Instagram page. However, many fans have already downloaded and uploaded it again to YouTube.

Twitter users expressed their disgust and disappointment that while many countries saw nurses as assets, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nigeria (read Olamide) defames and demeans them.
Some have even expressed concerns that it might even lead to sexual harassment towards nurses; as the masses have come to see them in that way.

This is not the first time nurses have been the subject matter of an Olamide music video. In fact, his very first music video, Omo To Shan, featuring Wizkid, showed Olamide faking an illness to get attention from a busty nurse.
