Nollywood’s Judith Audu Becomes UNHCR’s High Profile Supporter

Nigeria’s award winning actress and filmmaker Judith Audu  has been appointed as a high profile supporter of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Prior to this appointment, Audu had been supporting UNHCR’s activities and has remained a strong voice against human trafficking in Nigeria.

The UN Refugee Agency announced Audu’s appointment on Wednesday, 13, 2020.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Judith AUDU as a #UNHCR High Profile Supporter who will additionally be engaged in the Telling the Real Story (TRS) project. She is a passionate humanitarian and an advocate of social justice.

Judith has engaged with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency facilitated project #TRS in the past year in awareness raising efforts against human trafficking. We look forward to our continuous engagement with her!

Judith Audu is a passionate humanitarian who has consistently used her talent to advocate for social justice. As a film maker in Nollywood, she leverages her platform to shed a light on issues relating to sexual and gender based violence. This was the motivation behind the creation of her short film – Not Right. The film raises awareness on the issue of domestic violence in Nigerian society and encourages women to speak up. 

Audu begun supporting Telling the Real Story (TRS) project in 2019 and participated in various field activities in Benin City, the capital of Edo State in Nigeria. She has participated in radio talk shows, running collaboration with TRS, aimed at raising awareness on the dangers of irregular movement.

Audu additionally, participated in the 2019 World Day Against Human Trafficking that involved debate events in Secondary schools, and culminated in a 5 km ‘walk’ against human trafficking.
