The Nollywood industry has again been thrown into a mourning state, following the death of another veteran actor, Prof. Ayobami Akinwale.
Barely a week after the death of Baba Legba, Akinwale on Sunday, September 13, 2020, passed away after a brief illness.
The deceased was famous for his roles in movies like Sango, Ladepo Omo Adanwo, Iranse Aje, amongst others.
The African Movie Academy Award’s (AMAA) laureate was born in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He attended Methodist High School and the University of Ibadan before commencing his lecturing career at The Polytechnic Ibadan.
Featuring in television and drama productions, Akinwale began his acting career in the 1970s.
Due to his exploit in the movie-making industry, the thrilling thespian has won numerous awards, including the Best Indigenous actor award at the 4th AMAA.
He was the Dean, Faculty of Arts of the University of Ilorin.
He was also the chairman of Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture.
