The death toll from the tragic incident at Astroworld concert on November 5, is now 10, following the death of a nine-year-old boy trampled during the event.
This was revealed by a lawyer for the victims.
Many were injured after attending a performance by American rapper, Travis Scott at the festival in Texas, after attendees were crushed against barriers, unable to move or breathe as the mass pressed toward the stage.
According to concert goers, some fell and others tumbled on top of them. This crushed the bodies beneath. With the density of the crowd closer to the stage, it was hard to pick them up and evacuate them. Among these people was Ezra Blount. Although the nine-year-old left the concert alive, he had sustained severe injuries. Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma.
Ben Crump, an American attorney representing the victims of the tragedy, issued a statement late Sunday. He revealed that Blount had died from his injuries.
“The Blount family tonight is grieving the incomprehensible loss of their precious young son. This should not have been the outcome of taking their son to a concert. Which should have been a joyful celebration. Ezra’s death is absolutely heartbreaking.” (sic)
Subsequently, many have sued rappers Scott and Drake who performed on the stage in the final 15 minutes of the concert — well after authorities had declared an emergency, for the tragedy.
