Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has come under heavy criticism on social media, after throwing a birthday house party for her husband, JJC Skillz.
The talented filmmaker had penned a heartwarming message to her husband, who turned 43 on Saturday, April 4, 2020.
She wrote; “Happy birthday my darling husband. The Lord will grant you longer life and good health. Thank you for being a sweetheart! Our home will always be peaceful and the Lord will continue to bless us. Enjoy your day my King @jjcskillz #babaibeji.”
Unsurprisingly, many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their dismay towards Akindele for organising a house party to celebrate the screen diva’s husband’s birthday despite the ongoing coronavirus lockdown in Lagos.
As seen in viral videos on social media, the house party had a couple of people in attendance, including Naira Marley and Eniola Badmus, who recently returned from the United Kingdom, a high-risk country.

Knowing that the actress some weeks ago had highlighted how Nigerians can help the government in curtailing the spread of the infectious disease, many of Akindele’s fans must have been disappointed with this development.
The mother of two, in a public service announcement, that was released by Dettol in conjunction with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), had advised the general public to practise social and physical distancing, amongst others.
Now that the actress couldn’t even practise what she campaigned for, will the government make her pay for it?
