Nigerian Movie ‘The Island’ Makes Netflix Debut

With days left in 2019, Achievas Entertainment’s movie, ‘The Island’ has made it to the movie streaming platform, Netflix.

This year, Netflix’s international scope widened with far more foreign productions than previous years. Netflix which is presently working to acquire contents from Africa announced the purchase of the movie, produced by the CEO of Achievas Entertainment Company Limited, Chiori Daniel Cole.

Recall that the streaming giant had acquired Kunle Afolayan’s movie, “Mokalik” some months ago.

‘The Island’ has earlier got 10 nominations from Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TIFF). It won four awards, including the award for the Best African Film. Released in 2018, the film follows the story of an army officer, Hamza, who is caught in the shadows of a shady military intelligence until when he intercepts a conversation on weapon sales between unknown terrorists and agent. Enthusiastic about breaking the new Intel to his supervisor, Hamza makes a discovery that is terrifying as it is shocking.

The cast includes Big Brother Naija star T-Boss, Segun Arinze, Femi Adebayo and Sambasa Nzeribe among others.

Achievas Entertainment is best known for delivering some of the biggest concerts in Nigeria. Their concert for the month include ZLATAN LIVE – ZankuToTheWorld, 2BABA LIVE – 20Yearsaking celebration and Kizz Daniel Live scheduled for December 26, 2019.
