Nigerian actor, Victor Olaotan is dead. The veteran star was 69-year-old.

Olaotan’s wife, Julie confirmed that he passed away on Thursday night. Before this, the actor had been incapacitated for five years, due to a car accident that happened along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.

The ‘Tinsel’ actor was reportedly driving to a film set in 2016 when the accident happened. In 2018, the actor requested financial aid for his treatments outside the country. This was after two years of his incapacitation. Nigerian billionaire, Femi Otedola, agreed to settle his bill of about 39 million naira.

Olaotan’s wife stated that she is grateful that the 69-year-old actor can finally go to rest after suffering for years.

“He has tried. It is not easy to be trapped in your own body for five years. He can finally rest now.”

In February 2021, Olaotan celebrated his 69th birthday in a Turkish hospital. He was still battling with the effects of the traumatic brain injury he had suffered after the ghastly car accident.

Olaotan was born in Lagos on the 17th of February, 2021. He studied drama at the University of Ibadan, at the Obafemi Awolowo University and at Rockets University, United States. Famous for his grey hair and beard, he was a prolific actor both on stage and television. The 69 year old was best know for his character as Fred Ade Williams on the Mnet soap “Tinsel”.

He has featured in films such as “Three Wise Men”, alongside Richard Mofe-Damijo and Zack Orji, “Love struck,” and “Lotanna”.
