Nicki Minaj, Husband sued by his alleged rape victim over harassment

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj, hip hop superstar and her husband, Kenneth Petty, are being sued by a woman who accused Petty of rape in 1995.

The woman, Jennifer Hough claims she’s being harassed and intimidated, especially after she declined Nicki’s offer to change her story.

According to TMZ, the complaint was filed in New York on August 13. In the suit, Hough cites Minaj’s claim that Petty was “wrongly accused”, along with saying that she took back her allegations. At the time, Petty was convicted of attempted rape, for which he served nearly four years in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender.

The lawsuit alleges that Petty “intimidated and harassed Hough not to speak out concerning the rape she experienced at the hands of Defendant Petty”. It also claims that Nicki Minaj also “threatened the Plaintiff [Hough] to recant her legitimate claim that Defendant Petty raped her.”

The case dates back to 1995, when Jennifer Hough was 16 and Petty was also 16. She reported to the police he had raped her after leading her into a home at knife point. Petty was arrested that day and was charged with first-degree rape. He subsequently pleaded guilty to attempted rape and served four and a half years in prison.

According to the lawsuit, there has been “an onslaught of harassing calls and unsolicited visits” after she refused to recant her claim. Hough also adds that Nicki Minaj eventually sent people to offer a $500,000 bribe to a family member. The money was offered in exchange for a statement from Hough taking back the accusation. Later, Minaj allegedly sent a friend to offer Hough $20,000 in cash in exchange for taking back the rape claim. The lawsuit also claims the friend offered a birthday video from Minaj to Hough’s daughter as part of the bribe.

Hough also claims she has had to move houses multiple times to avoid the alleged harassment from Minaj.
