Neo is back! ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ trailer drops

Matrix

The first full trailer for the fourth installment of the Matrix franchise, titled The Matrix Resurrections finally dropped on Thursday.

The new movie, directed by Lana Wachowski, brings back Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in their roles as Neo and Trinity. This follows the recent release of movie teasers on the red and blue pill website.

On the website, you can click on either a red pill or a blue pill, just like in the original movie, and depending on your choice you’ll get images of either life inside the Matrix or action images of the human resistance fighting back. The coolest thing about the site? That the images you see change based on the time you click.

It’s been 18 years since the last Matrix movie. This newest addition follows The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003).

Fans have been speculating that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be playing a younger Morpheus. That hasn’t been confirmed yet however we do know the movie won’t feature the original Morpheus, Laurence Fishburne. According to Fishburne, he said “I am not in the next Matrix movie and you’d have to ask Lana Wachowski why, ’cause I don’t have an answer for that.”

This latest offering premieres on Dec. 22 in theaters and on HBO Max.
