Ryan Keith Dorsey, Naya Rivera‘s ex-husband and actor has filed a wrongful death lawsuit over the drowning of the Glee actress who died during a boating trip with her young son in July.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of their 5-year-old son and estate over the accident on a California lake. The lawsuit blames the local authority and the managers of Lake Piru, north-west of Los Angeles, where the accident happened. It alleges swimmers were not adequately warned of the risks of swimming there and claims wrongful death and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
The court documents claims, the deceased’s son “has suffered substantial economic and noneconomic damages as a result of Naya’s death,” adding that he has suffered “serious emotional distress” as a result of being at the scene where his mother drowned.
The paperwork states the plaintiffs are requesting a jury trial. It also said they’re seeking “actual, compensatory, consequential and punitive damages in amounts to be fixed at trial,” “reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs as available by law,” “pre-judgment and post-judgment interest,” and any “further relief as the Court deems appropriate.”
Naya Rivera had begun her career as a child actress and model, appearing in TV commercials in the US. As a four-year-old, she starred in the Royal Family sitcom while making other TV appearances.
She is best known for playing the cheerleader Santana Lopez in the musical comedy TV series Glee.
