The Federal Government has sealed Jabi Lake Mall, the venue where singer Naira Marley performed on Saturday, June 13, 2020, drive-in concert.
According to Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, the Abuja event centre was shut indefinitely for violating the ban on public gathering.
“The FCT Ministerial Task Team on COVID-19 seals up Jabi Lake Mall indefinitely for violating Presidential Task Force’s directives on the ban on public gatherings as part of measures to contain the spread of the dreaded pandemic in the territory,” he tweeted.
Eelive.ng had reported that the controversial singer, with his drive-in concert, openly disregarded the Federal Government’s social distancing order, which was instituted as a measure to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
Asides violating the rules of social distancing and the use of face masks in public places, the concert which Naira Marley headlined, breached the 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew in FCT.
The event however attracted a wave of public backlash on Sunday, June 14, with many social media users, calling for Naira Marley’s arrest.
Having being arrested for a similar offense some months ago, will the singer be prosecuted this time?
