Naira Marley Under Fire For Controversial Coronavirus Tweet

Naira Marley

Azeez Fashola, Nigerian singer, popularly known as Naira Marley has provoked outrage over his tweet on the coronavirus pandemic.

The controversial singer took to his Twitter page to drop a post, asking fans to retweet if they’re among those who do not believe in COVID-19.

“Retweet if u don’t believe in CoronaVirus,” he tweeted.

The tweet also comes at a time when Nigeria currently has 35 cases, recording its first death from the virus.

Over the past few days, a great number of Nigerian celebrities have used social media to criticize the government for not doing enough to screen passengers coming into the country from the nation’s airports and seaports.

Social media users were quick to push back against and condemn Naira Marley‘s comments.

After he started “trending” on the microblogging platform, Marley took to Instagram live to make a video where he defended his stance on coronavirus.

He urged people to leave him to his convictions on the killer virus.

“If I don’t believe in what you believe in, then I don’t believe it! I said retweet if you don’t believe in coronavirus and they want to kill me. Are you stupid or you’re dumb?” Marley fired back in the clip.
