Breakout star, Joeboy, features on the latest episode of Ndani TV’s “The Mix”. The artiste talks about how he got involved in music; singing to himself in the bathroom till family and friends decided to believe in him enough to sponsor his career. He describes his creative process, revealing that he uses people’s experiences as much as his as inspiration.
On his introduction into music and journey so far, Joeboy shared; “I started by singing in my bathroom till a family friend paid for my first studio session. It wasn’t something I thought I could take seriously but people started investing in me, and that made me know I was doing something right. So it started from my bathroom, to recording covers until Mr. Eazi saw one and the rest is history.”
Revealing what artistes he hopes to work with in the future, he said; “I would love to work with Chris Brown at some point, he is so talented and has managed to stay relevant over the years, and working with him would be really great. I love Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid and 2face; they’re all my role models.
“Beginning”;
Talking about his inspiration, Joeboy said; “I draw inspiration from everywhere, my song ‘Baby’ was about my close friend’s experience with a girl he liked. One of the lines from my song ‘Beginning’ was something I got in an argument with another friend. It could be me, it could be a friend but I’ve learnt to use any inspiration I can get.”
