John Dumelo, Ghanaian movie star says his mother wanted him to become a Catholic priest.
The actor cum-politician, revealed in an interview with YFM. Narrating his childhood tales, Dumelo disclosed that he was once a mass server in the Catholic Church and his mother expected him to follow through to become a priest.
“I used to serve mass and at a point, I think my mother even wanted me to be a Reverend Father but that calling, I beat am. When you serve mass well, they’ll probably tell you to go to Pope John Senior High School and continue to the seminary and so on but nah,” he said.
The MP aspirant for the Ayawaso West Wuogon recently celebrated his first wedding anniversary with Gifty Mawunya, his wife.
The couple tied the knot in May 2019 in a grand wedding at Royal Senchi Resort in Akosombo. They have a son together.
Dumelo made headlines in December 2019 when he called for the legalisation of Polygamy in Ghana, a move that didn’t sit well with his wife.
He also added that women should also be allowed to practice polyandry and marry more men.
Few days later, in an interview with Joy FM, John Dumelo said he took down the Instagram post; because what was meant to be a question looked like a statement.
He further revealed that his wife was aware of the post before he shared it; but she dealt with him thereafter.
” Before I shared the post, I showed it to my wife and told her I was going to post it. She was aware of it but as expected, she “dealt” with me later on at home. She showed me her typical “Ayigbe” woman side” he said.
