Nollywood actress Mercy Macjoe has disclosed that she has a huge limit when it comes to playing romantic roles.
Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, Macjoe stated viewers’ general perception matters to her; hence her roles in movies now are determined by the way she wants to be regarded or understood and how she wants to presents herself to audience.
“I have a huge limit now compared to when I started. I am careful how I choose roles and how I present myself to viewer.”
Macjoe, 26, maintained although, she has never regretted playing any roles, there are some characters she played before that she wouldn’t interpret.
While speaking, the actress stated she has always berated the burden of expectation fans have about celebrities, especially when it comes to marriage.
The current student of the New York Film Academy said it is not unusual for men to approach beautiful ladies.
“As a beautiful lady, men will approach one, let alone when one is famous, so I consider it to be normal. On my Instagram page, I keep everyone on the same page. I hardly reply messages. Most times, I generalise my replies.”
She also maintained that it was wrong for fans to put pressure on celebs when it comes to marriage.
She added, “Nobody should put pressure on anyone when it comes to marriage. Not everyone wants to get married and for some people, they are taking their time. I am just 26. I will get married when I am ready.
“This is 2020; fans should give celebrities a break. Just like them, we have our own challenges and struggles. Some of these fans asking when one would get married don’t even have their own lives together.”
