Fashion Movies to Get Your February Started
Transitioning from fast paced January into February feels like enduring a mega boring speech after a wild party. You don’t want to do it but you have to and then you find yourself wondering why you believed going to that party was even a good idea. A useful tip that I’ve found is to indulge in little acts of escapism; things that help your body calm down and pace itself out to the reality that the craziness is over.
To this effect, I’ve rounded up a few of the best loved fashion films and TV series that give the kind of entertainment you need to distract yourself from the world while inspiring your style. From the fashion cult classic The Devil Wears Prada to AfMag’s TV drama Hush, here are four fashion movies you should step down with.
The Devil Wears Prada
This movie worms its way to another list of fashion films despite being released almost thirteen years ago but with good reason. The David Frankel directed film which stars the screen goddesses – Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway – has over time come to be the favorite of many fashion enthusiasts. It was also the movie that introduced many of us to the fast paced fashion industry and world of fashion journalism. This classic film is one that is always worth the watch no matter the day or time.
Hush
Hush is an Africa Magic drama thriller that is centered on two powerhouses – one in the fashion industry and the other a political madhouse. Everybody’s favourite zaddy, Richard Mofe-Damijo plays Bem and Thelma Okoduwa plays Arinola in this exciting TV series.
To focus solely on the fashion aspect, Bem is one of Lagos’ most sought for fashion designers and for the most of the show, both Bem and the other actors deliver stylish looks that are worth noting.
The September Issue
September Issue is undeniably Vogue’s most important issue as September is the fashion world’s equivalent of January. This is because it marks the beginning of another fashion season, the Autumn/Winter season. Warning! This will only interest you if you are a real fashion buff. So, if you want to know what goes down during the creation of the ‘Holy Issue’ then this is the one to watch.
The Personal Shopper
If you love fashion and thrill then this movie is the one for you. If you also love Kristen Stewart who plays Maureen and is a personal shopper in this 2017 movie then this flick is right for you. It might not be a classic like The Devil Wears Prada but it is definitely worth a watch especially if you want to see some of Kristen Stewart’s best acting yet.
