Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Media has become the first African to chair the International Emmy Awards. She performed the role at the just concluded 47th International Emmy Awards in New York City.
Another feather in the hat for the media mogul, this followed her appointment as the first African Director of Emmy.
Sharing the beautiful moment on her Instagram page, she wrote: “Chairing the international Emmys Gala was such an incredible opportunity for me personally, for EBONYLIFE and for Nigerian TV producers.
“Now we have our foot in the door, which will gradually open wider. Let’s get going with our global stories.”
Speaking at the gala, she said;
“We are happy to be at the forefront of forging these new partnerships because it is truly about sharing our local stories with a global audience. Stories that are historical, authentic and progressive.”
The 55 year old media mogul has been described by Forbes as ‘Africa’s Most Successful Woman‘. In 2006, Mo Abudu stared EbonyLife TV, a network in more than 49 countries across Africa. As well as the UK and the Caribbean, Ebonylife TV is located at Tinapa Resort, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.
In addition to this feat, she was among the 25 Most Powerful Women in Global TV by the Hollywood Reporter in 2013.
