Haitian DJ and Record Producer, Michael Brun, enlists Mr Eazi and Adekunle Gold, two of Nigeria’s finest, on his recently released debut album project titled – “Lokal”.
Both Nigerian acts have continued to cross borders with their music, as they both also recently featured on Walshy Fire’s “Abeng” project. Mr Eazi also got a BET nomination but lost out to Burna Boy.
Brun, who is also a medical student, is known for blending EDM genres such as progressive house with native Haitian styles such as ‘kompa’ and ‘rara’.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the DJ revealed his inspiration for the far-reaching album; “During my DJ sets, I was playing a lot of afrobeats, and I was also playing a lot of Haitian music. I was like, what will bridge the gap in my set? I’m gonna make that track.”
And so Brun went ahead to make not just one track but a whole cache of multiple afropop-inspired tunes to join the house, pop and jazz-influenced bangers on his eclectic album, “Lokal”.
