ACE rapper, MI Abaga has advised men on how to end sexual abuse and assault against women.
Reacting to a viral video on social media, where a man was filmed molesting a lady inside a public bus, the When I’m Gone lyricist said men should make effort to sit with women, and listen to them as they share how hard it is for the female gender to live in the society.
While championing for a society against assault, sexual violence, and patriarchy, the rapper preferably referred to as MI, said men should also learn to support women into leadership positions.
He wrote; “If there is one thing I hope all men do in this period.. is sit with the women around you and listen, let them share their stories (if they want to) and their experiences on being a woman in our society.. listen and then commit to change.
“It’s about speaking truth to our brothers fathers sons when they transgress.. we can not change the world by just repainting it.. we must tear down the systems that support a society where men can wreak such evil.
“And while we as men listen to truth in this period, let us remember it is not only about the change towards violence, it’s about ensuring that there is equity in your workplaces and schools. It’s about dismantling patriarchy by supporting women into positions of leadership.”
With his comment on sexual abuse against women, Abaga joins the league of celebrities and societal stakeholders who are championing for a society safe for all to live.
Eelive.ng had reported that Mavin Records boss and renowned producer, Don Jazzy, in a Twitter post, called for the end of rape culture.
Do you think MI’s advise will end rape and other sexual violence against women?
