In a couple days, Marvel would be bringing the Eternals to the big screen and introducing fans to these god-like characters.
With this forthcoming movie, audiences would finally be introduced to the 10 members of the Eternals. So before you get confused about who is who when you finally go to see the movie, I’ve decided to give you a quick breakdown of all the members of this all powerful beings.
First of all, Who are the Eternals?
So they’re an immortal race of aliens created by the Celestials who have secretly lived on Earth for over 7,000 years. They’re neither people, gods or even mutants like the rest of the MCU we already know about. However, they’re all very skilled warriors with super-strength, speed, agility and other special abilities.
Since they came to Earth, they have lived among regular humans and have had to hide their abilities. So yes, they were on Earth during the entirety of the Infinity Saga. In this movie, they have to reunite to defend the humans against the Deviants, mutant monsters also created by the Celestials.
Let’s meet the Eternals
- Ikaris
Think a bit of Superman but in the MCU and not from Krypton. He shoots laser beams from his eyes, can fly at speeds of up to 850 miles per hour, and can also create illusions thanks to his psychic abilities. He is also immune to injury or disease and can regenerate his entire body if need be.
Ikaris is played by Richard Madden.
- Sersi
In her time on earth, Sersi has faced Odysseus and his crew, witnessed the fall of Rome and the French revolution. She’s an empathetic eternal with a deep love for humans. She’s also had a centuries-long, on-and-off relationship with Ikaris and poses as a museum curator on Earth. Sersi can alter matter into any form she chooses, an ability she masks as regular stage magic.
Sersi is played by Gemma Chan.
- Sprite
Sprite is a mischievous trickster. The character has been potrayed in its history as either a man or a woman but in this film, it’ll be the latter. Though she’s just as old as the other Eternals, she has the appearance of a child. She can create lifelike illusions, teleport and also fly at breakneck speeds.
Sprite is played by Lia McHugh.
- Phastos
Phastos is the inventor and master technician amongst the group. He is also the first out, gay superhero in the MCU. He despises war and is a sworn pacifist. His main special ability is that he can create anything his mind imagines. Building weapons and inventions with a mere thought.
Phastos is played by Brian Tyree Henry
- Thena
Just like Athena, the Greek goddess of war, Thena is a warrior who loves to battle. As well as fight with the best of them , Thena also possesses the power to manifest any handheld weapon she can imagine with pure cosmic energy. Just like all the other Eternals, she also has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes.
Thena is played by Angelina Jolie.

- Ajak
Ajak is the spiritual leader of the Eternals. In the comics, Ajak is depicted as a man but for the movie, Marvel switched that up. She guides the group on their mission on Earth and serves as a link from their creators, the Celestials. She also has the ability to heal both humans and Eternals.
Ajak is played by Salma Hayek.
- Makkari
Makkari is the speedster amongst the Eternals. She has explored the entire planet in her time on earth and now she’s just bored. According to Marvel, she’s the fastest being in the Universe so think ‘faster than Quicksilver’. She’s also Marvel’s first deaf superhero, so the rest of the Eternals communicate with her through sign language.
Makkari is played by Lauren Ridloff.
- Kingo
While the rest of the Eternals who decided to live anonymously amongst humans, away from the spotlight, Kingo went the opposite route. He wanted the fame and the flashing lights so he became a Bollywood movie star, using their stories as inspiration for his movies. He can project cosmic energy explosions and projectiles from his hands. He’s also a very skilled fighter like the rest of the Eternals.
Kingo is played by Kumail Nanjiani.
- Gilgamesh
The strongest Eternal, Gilgamesh is remembered throughout history as a fierce warrior. His superhuman strength is said to rival Hercules. When in battle, a golden cosmic-enhanced exoskeleton shields his arms and fists and delivers devastating blows to enemies.

- Druig
Every group of super powered beings always have that one shady character, that’s where Druig comes in. He has the ability to control the minds of humans which as you can imagine isn’t always a good thing.
Druig is played by Barry Keogahn.
