Fast-rising Nigerian model, Mayowa Nicholas is rocking the lenses as a muse for Oscar de la Renta’s pre-spring 2020 collection.
The collection’s lookbook according to Vogue was inspired by the Meiji Era – the 44-year period of Japan’s history from 1868 to 1912 when the country was under the rule of the great Emperor Mutsuhito. The pieces features woven gold chains adorning the waistlines and bodies of garment resembling the military uniforms used by soldiers within that historical time frame as well as some pleated gown and floral patchwork on evening wear. The collection explores old Japan’s adoption of the Western culture.
