Max Ehrich’s tweets about wanting to marry Selena Gomez, the former best friend of his fiance Demi Lovato, have gone viral. Fans dug up the actor’s old tweets gushing about the singer over and over.
Demi Lovato broke her silence yesterday after seeing the old tweets and Instagram comments where Ehrich seemingly gushed about not only Selena Gomez; but also Ariana Grande, Gigi Hadid, and more stars went viral from before he started dating Lovato.
Fans noticed that Ehrich was particularly obsessed with Gomez, writing about how he wanted to marry her on his social media multiple times.
Lovato claimed the posts were fake, and some may have been. Ehrich deleted his Twitter, making it impossible to verify the tweets now. But fans took screenshots of the posts, and some of Ehrich’s comments about Gomez got media attention long before Lovato wrote about it.
There were stories about Ehrich’s old posts about wanting to marry Gomez back in June, shortly after Lovato announced her engagement to Ehrich. Ehrich also gushed about Gomez in an old Instagram Live video, addressing his tweets about her and his longstanding crush.
Here’s the video below:
“I think she’s an extremely, extremely, extremely talented girl. And I’ve actually had a major crush on her since 2010,” he started. “And I—my teenage self, like, said it in an interview as well. So it’s kind of been this ongoing thing but then like obviously I put it out on Twitter. And I didn’t even realize that would catch like—that people would take that like seriously.”
“But yeah, I honestly think Selena Gomez is an extraordinary women,” he continued. “What she stands for charity-wise, just being an activist, she just has a great heart. Her heart is in the right place. She loves Jesus. She loves God.”
“She’s just like, she’s an angel, and I love her, but on top of that, I respect her musically and I want to make music with her. Okay? I want to make a song with her and put out a song,” he concluded.
Fans on social media feared Ehrich, a former soap opera star, was just using Lovato. The two got engaged after less than five months of dating. “Max Ehrich is a creep that has tried to get famous women’s attention for years (especially Selena Gomez),” one fan wrote.
Lovato posted a statement to her Instagram Story, telling fans and tabloids to stop creating fake drama and to confront the issues that really matter, like the Black Lives Matter movement and seeking justice for Breonna Taylor.
She added that any drama she has between someone is private. Lovato spoke to Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year about how she and Gomez are no longer friends: “When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them,” Lovato started when asked about Gomez’s Grammys 2020 tribute to her.
