Actress and filmmaker Mary Njoku denies underpaying her ROK staff and offer a ₦1 million reward and a public apology to anyone who can prove they have been underpaid.
It all started when the actress and her husband, IrokoTV founder Jason Njoku said ₦4.6 million tuition fee is cheap. They received quite a bit of backlash for that comment and those calling them out questioned how their staff would afford such a high tuition fee when they are underpaid.
Reacting to the backlash, Mary Njoku asked anyone with proof that staff in ROK are underpaid.
“I want to apologize for speaking about meritocracy. For speaking up for smart people who work hard but underpaid cos they couldn’t afford to further their education. I apologize. I run ROK. And we value our employees irrespective of their educational qualification,” she wrote.
“So come forward with proof if you know any current ROK staff who earns 30k 70k or even 90k. Graduate or illiterate. And get 1m naira. Come forward PUBLICLY Pls.”
