Marsai Martin has broken the Guinness World record for the “youngest Hollywood Executive Producer.”
The 16-year old broke the record in 2019 after she released her film, Little when she was only 14. Martin also starred alongside Regina Hall and Issa Rae.
The record noted that she was only 14 and 241 days old when Little was released. She was officially presented with the award and declared a record-breaker by Guinness this week.
Commenting on her achievement, she said during her certificate presentation: “It feels crazy, honestly. A world record? That’s insane.
“To be able to create a film, to star in it and be with your favourite stars, and actually seeing that entire experience was so amazing.”
The actress shot into limelight after starring as Dianne on Black-ish. It was gathered that she pitched the idea to Blackish creator, Kenya Barris when she was 10.
In 2019, she signed a deal with Universal Pictures to develop scripted projects.
“She is not only tremendously talented in front of the camera, but offers a unique perspective as a creator and producer that will resonate with all audiences,” Peter Cramer, president of Universal Pictures, said in a statement to CNN.
Marsai Martin will appear in the 2021 edition of the Guinness World Records book. Meanwhile her production company, Genius Productions, is currently working on another film, titled StepMonster.
She is a nine-time NAACP Image Awards winner. Time included her on its “Time 100 Next” list in 2019.
