Mariah Carey, American pop singer, has revealed that she will honestly tell the unfiltered story of her life in her upcoming memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
In a post on her Instagram page, the award-winning singer announced that the book will be released on September, 29.
“This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival and my songs. Unfiltered,” Carey wrote alongside her announcement.
“I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say; and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.”
“Writing this memoir was incredibly hard, humbling and healing,” she wrote. “My sincere hope is that you are moved to a new understanding. Not only about me, but also about the resilience of the human spirit.”
According to a press release, “additional surprises and rarities are imminent in the coming months” in order to celebrate the recent 30th anniversary of Carey‘s debut album release.
With more than 200 million albums sold to date and multiple No. 1 singles, Carey is among the most successful artists in history and the recipient of multiple Grammy Awards; in addition to other honors like induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
As an actress, she has distinguished herself in critically acclaimed roles, among them: Lee Daniels’ Precious and The Butler. Variety honoured Carey in Oct. 2019 as part of its Power of Women event.
