Nigerian Reggae Legend, Majek Fashek, in a post on his Instagram page, has called out popular lifestyle and music television channel, SoundCity, for refusing to air his music videos, saying his legacy is being tarnished.
The TV station had reportedly disapproved two of his recent videos, ‘Akugbe’ and ‘Hey Rastaman’ for airplay on their station, referring to them as low quality visuals.
Majek Fashek decided to express his bitterness at the decision of the media house’s management, headed by entertainment mogul, Tajudeen Adepetu, on social media. The renowned musician recorded a video lambasting the television station, explaining that the rejected videos were of high quality, shot in Atlanta, United States and the Canary Walf in England.
“Its a BIG shame that Soundcity and their boss Tajudeen Adepetu have chosen to ignore good music from a LEGEND like Majek Fashek,” he captioned the video.
“All on YouTube to see if it’s not quality enough. How dare you say Majek Fashek’s music video is not ‘quality’ enough to be played on Soundcity? Yet you play all these “Yahoo Yahoo” videos with naked girls and stuff? Where is the place for history and honouring our legends? Shame on YOU!!!” he said.
