Anxiety broke out among fans of popular old-time singer, Majek Fashek, few weeks ago, when it was revealed that the singer was battling an undisclosed ailment
Manager and friend to the 70-year-old African reggae star, Umenka Uzoma, had disclosed that Fashek spent all he had, battling the disease and had gone broke.
In a virtual interview with PUNCH’s “Saturday Beats” yesterday, Uzoma revealed that the singer is responding to treatments and getting a lot better.
This is coming after popular Nigerian Business Billionaire, Femi Otedola, offered to foot the medical bills, thereby taking the burden off Majek and fellow Nigerians who had started raising funds.
Born Majekodunmi Fasheke, Majek Fashek attracted international attention, in 1987, when his self-penned tune, “Send Down The Rain,” seemed to coax a rain storm that ended one of the worst draughts in Nigeria’ s history; he was then termed a “prophet”.
