Singer, rapper, and flutist, Lizzo is leading the Grammy Awards this year with eight nominations! The breakout star is followed by Gen Z pop sensations, Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X. The newcomers are all over the nominations for music’s biggest night.

The Grammy’s have received a lot of backlash for catering only to white male audiences. So this year, they have seen the error of their ways. The nominations are very diverse and inclusive.

Although Lizzo, 31, made her debut in 2013, she only just made her way into the public domain with her third studio album “Cuz I Love You”. The album scored Lizzo a nomination for the top Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards.

Lizzo also succeeded in winning fans over with her sassy, body-positive persona. She is also a feminist and an advocate for sexual freedom, and black pride.

Genre-bending meme king Lil Nas X, 20, rode the fame of his viral smash “Old Town Road” also snagged six chances at Grammy gold.

After first grabbing attention on the video-sharing app TikTok, the artist won the internet when his infectious single booted Ariana Grande from the Billboard chart’s top overall spot.

He then attracted a lot of controversy twice! First when his song was kicked off the Country Billboard charts — to which he gave an awesome comeback of remixes. The second was when he came out as gay.

“Old Town Road” was a hit and there was nothing anyone could do about it. The jam took a seat at the Billboard number 1 spot and stayed there for a record-breaking 19 weeks.

This was before he got booted himself by none other than Billie Eilish.

Eilish also nabbed a shot at best album for “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” to bring her total nomination count to six — and, at age 17, became the youngest person nominated in all the top four categories.

Prior to her album’s release, the goth-leaning artist had already won a fervent online fan base for her bold pop style that features heavy bass and tinges of trap and EDM.

The Grammy Awards will take place on January 26, 2020 in Los Angeles.
