Beyonce Knowles-Carter, American singer and business mogul, has surprised fans with the release of her new song, Black Parade.

The award-winning singer, 38, released the surprise project on Friday to commemorate this year’s edition of Juneteenth — the holiday observing the June 19, 1865 date which marked the end of slavery in the United States.

The song which was co-written by her husband, Jay-Z sees Beyonce reflecting on a range of contemporary issues in the world, including the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Movement inspired by George Floyd’s death.

“Put your fists up in the air, show black love. Need peace and reparation for my people,” Beyonce sings.

The less than five-minute project is Beyoncé’s first new solo music since she released The Lion King: The Gift, her 2019 hit album. The Formation singer dropped another surprise last month when she appeared on the remix of Megan Thee Stallion‘s Savage.

It comes about the same time when she launched ‘Black Parade Route’ — an initiative which supports black-owned businesses.

In a post announcing the initiative on her social media page, the 38-year-old expressed her support for black movements across the world.

“Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power.”

“Black Parade celebrates you, your voice and your joy and will benefit Black-owned small businesses. Click the link in my bio to learn more,” she wrote on Instagram.
