Nigerian actress Lilian Afegbai has decried the high cost of Asoebi in the country.
In a recent video posted on her Instagram page, she called out a friend for charging $1,200 for wedding aso ebi.
She said, “I was on my own when a friend of mine sent me an invitation to her wedding, after which I congratulated her happily.
“I checked the date to make sure the date didn’t clash with my schedule then I saw the aso ebi price which was 1200, I initially thought the price was in naira, thinking, ‘shey she’s doing giveaway?’
“Then I saw the dollar sign at the back. I decided to check convert it, over a million naira for the aso ebi I would wear only once?
“It’s not good na, everybody should relax. You are pressuring people, this is the reason some people use their savings for wedding. You should relax, there is life after the wedding.”
Aso ebi is a popular Nigerian cultural tradition where groups of people wear coordinated outfits for special occasions, such as weddings, funerals, birthdays, and other celebrations
