Three years after it was first announced, Lil Wayne returns with his long-awaited new album titled Funeral. The Young Money rapper lives up to his GOAT status on the album, which has a whopping 24 tracks!
The album includes “features that you wouldn’t expect”. It features hip-hop stars like Big Sean, the deceased XXXTentacion, Lil Baby, Jay Rock, Adam Levine, 2 Chainz, Takeoff, The-Dream, Lil Twist, and O.T. Genasis.
Funeral, which follows 2018’s Tha Carter V, has a more current feel than his previous albums. “With me, what the new thing is for me is actually trying to put out music that sounds like a little more like today’s music,” Weezy told XXL last year.
During an interview with N.O.R.E. for TIDAL’s “Drink Champs” podcast, he explained the title’s significance. “We just playing off all the shit I already dropped.”
“I’ve dropped Rebirth so we going to the Funeral,” said Lil Wayne. “Don’t have expectations please ’cause I will definitely exceed every single one, so just listen to it open-minded.”
2020 is already iconic, seeing as we just got a release from one of the greatest rappers of the 2010s; who went on hiatus after his legal battles with former mentor Birdman.
There will be a review of Funeral soon.
