Barbadian singer, Rihanna has reacted to the massacre on Lekki Tollage, in Lagos, saying she’s heartbroken.
In the late hours of yesterday (Tuesday, October 20, 2020), some soldiers, according to reliable reports, stormed the tollgate protest ground, and shot indiscriminately at the peaceful #EndSARS protesters.
As seen on videos making rounds on the internet, the peaceful protesters begged for the shooting to stop as they were harmless, but in what looked like an aim to kill for the soldiers, they continued regardless of the lives at risk.
Reacting to the incident which has attracted wild reactions from international bodies, Rihanna said she could not bear the brutality melted on Nigerians by their government, adding that it’s unbearable to watch people die in such a way they did.
“I can’t bear to see this torture and brutalization that is continuing to affect nations across our planet. It is such a betrayal to the citizens, the very people put in place to protect are the ones we are most afraid of being murdered by. My heart is broken for Nigeria. It is unbearable to watch,” she penned.
The music star, however, saluted Nigerians for their courage despite the torrid period.
“I’m so proud of your strength and for not letting up on the fight for what is right. #EndSARS,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army had denied its involvement in the Lekki Tollgate massacre of peaceful #EndSARS protesters.
