Grammy Award-winning rapper Eminem is a controversial figure in Hip Hop. Throughout his career, which spans over 20 years, Eminem has been caught in one scandal or beef or something else.

And now for his latest controversy, it was revealed via a leaked snippet that Eminem supported Chris Brown in the case of his assault of Rihanna. Apparently, he said so in the unreleased version of his song “Lose Yourself”.

Here’s a bit of a background story…

In February of 2009, the entirety of Hollywood was shook by the events that took place after the Grammy Awards party. That was the night when Chris Brown violently assaulted Rihanna while the two were in a relationship.

Rihanna claims that she had caught her then-boyfriend, Chris Brown cheating on her and confronted him about it. The confrontation turned violent when Brown physically assaulted her, leaving her face and body badly bloodied and bruised.

As a result of this, Hollywood blacklisted Chris Brown and he lost all his sponsorships. His court-ordered probation, as well as the public outrage against him, lasted for years. It is one of the most public domestic abuse incidents in the history of Hollywood.

So what did Eminem say?

The Insider reports that Eminem made those statements during the recording sessions for 2009’s Relapse. The rapper allegedly says: “Of course I side with Chris Brown, I’d beat a b*tch down too.”

A Reddit user posted it as “(SNIPPET) Eminem – Things Get Worse (Rihanna Diss)”. The song never made it to the album. But he later turned part of it into B.o.B.’s 2011 track “Things Get Worse.”

Eminem’s misogyny has never been a secret. He has rapped severally about murdering his ex-wife. The revised version of the song even includes lines about Dakota Fanning being raped and murdered, and putting Natasha Bedingfield “in a washer.”

Eminem also rapped about Angelina Jolie, Carmen Electra, and Jessica Simpson. His own mother even sued him for defamation in 1999 over lyrics on The Slim Shady LP.

The worst part about the whole thing is that Eminem would then collaborate with Rihanna. They worked on several tracks together including “Love The Way You Lie” in 2010 and “Monster” in 2013. The rapper even expressed his desire to date Rihanna in 2014.

This came years after he glorified her abuse and the abuse of many other women. It is a repulsive shame that she lent her voice to his music. So like the song, Rihanna truly was friends with a monster.
