The platinum selling artiste was shot four times during an attempted robbery.
A Los Angeles Police Department detective, Carlos Camacho involved with the case said on Friday that a 15-year-old assailant shot Pop Smoke.
The unnamed shooter confessed to the shooting during a secretly recorded interview with a cellmate at a juvenile detention center last May.
The shooter is unnamed as he’s still classified as a minor.
According to him, the group was after Pop Smoke’s Cuban link chain but only managed to get his Rolex. They went on to sell the watch for $2,000.
Detective Camacho further stated that the 15-year-old “admitted that he shot the victim three times with a Baretta 9 (mm.)”.
“They got into a fight, and he shot him three times,” Camacho went on to add.
The detective was testifying at a hearing for a different suspect, 20-year-old Corey Walker. Walker is the only adult defendant involved in the Pop Smoke shooting.
Camacho testified that Walker confessed to his role in the attack during a separate, secretly recorded jailhouse interview.
