Lady Gaga’s father, Joe Germanotta has come under fire from the public after asking for donations to pay his restaurant staff laid off due to coronavirus.

Social media users criticized Lady Gaga‘s 64-year-old father asking the public to pay the wages at his New York restaurant Joanne Trattoria.

In a now-deleted Tweet, Joe wrote:

“I’m doing the best I can but we had to close Joanne for the month. Our staff needs some financial help. We will appreciate any help for our employees.”

The fundraiser was immediately met with heavy criticism from the public, who were quick to bring up the Germanotta family’s wealth.

“You are wealthy and your daughter is beyond wealthy. This is just so disgusting,” wrote a Twitter user.

“You’re asking people that are more than likely worse off than you to pay for your staff. Come on, you can afford to pay them,” said another.

However, Lady Gaga who turned 34 on Saturday reportedly had no idea her father Joe made the Public plea.

Reacting to this, an insider said, “She had no idea he was doing that and that idea would have been shot down before he even finished bringing it up — and the worst part is, it’s her birthday! Neither she nor [mom] Cynthia would ever let that happen. It was him acting on his own, unfortunately, really bad impulse.”

Lady Gaga is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and this is the more reason her father is being slammed
