American musician, Stefani Germanotta, popularly known as Lady Gaga was seen crying while American actress, Halle berry delivered the motivating message while receiving the SeeHer Award Sunday at the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards.

The award was presented to Betty by ‘Insecure’ actress Issa Rae. Berry began her speech by explaining that her role in Netflix’s Bruised wasn’t originally written for someone “who looked like me.” Still, she tailored the role to herself and taking on the project as director. She continued,

“[Storytelling] can raise our consciousness and help us think outside of ourselves and our individual circumstances. I realized that we truly need to see each other’s reality — no matter how uncomfortable it makes us. So we can stop judging and stop pointing fingers. But rather find compassion and empathy for the others.”(sic)

Berry continues,

“I’ve been in the business for 30 years, and I used to think that if I could play the part of a white man, then I was winning. But you know what, wanna know why that didn’t work? Because, if you didn’t know, I’m not a white man. So, for those roles to work, they would have to be substantially changed. It would have to be written with the reality of my journey, in all of its beauty and all of its pain.”

The 55 year old star continued,

“This is why I am so grateful to be standing and living in this moment. Where women are standing up and we are telling our own stories.” (Sic)

This is not the first time Gaga is crying at an award show. Last month, she cried while hugging legendary English actress Helen Mirren, at the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild awards. At the time, Gaga cried in her arms as Mirren comforted her and wiped tears from her eyes.
