Earlier, EELive disclosed how the burgeoning thespian, King Tijesunimi is looking to break into the Nigerian movie industry. Read the opening part of the interview here.

In the latter part of the session, the movie actor who grew up in Lagos state spoke about some of the challenges he has been experiencing since he joined the industry.

Speaking with EELive, Tijesunimi said, “This could be a novel. The industry is tough. The money sucks until you become a brand with a fanbase big enough for producers to pay you decently.”

He said, “Here, most people believe that getting the chance to stand in front of a camera alongside celebrities is payment enough.

He went forward to say, “Then there are issues after shooting. Sometimes, movies take ages, and sometimes they don’t come out at all. I remember my talking scenes from Prophetess were cut out.” Speaking further, “I was so disappointed that I sent a message to the director to find out what happened, but I never got a reply. Later, I learned that not everything you shoot in showbiz makes the final cut.

Talking about the struggles of burgeoning actors in the movie industry, “The industry isn’t conducive, and the structures don’t favour upcoming actors or even most veteran actors. The pay and welfare could be much better.

Tijesunimi added, “Most upcoming actors can’t survive acting alone unless they have a sponsor, a loaded family, or a friend supporting them. The average person can’t live off-set pay.”

What scares you the most about the Nigerian movie industry?

He had this to say what scares him about the Nigerian movie industry, “The fact that the industry is going to kill a lot of talent that could very well put us on the Oscars stage. And like most institutions in Nigeria, there’s also a high rate of bribery and corruption.”

What projects are you working on?

Speaking about his upcoming project, Tijesunimi added, “I’m currently working on a project titled Trapped for Ground Zero Production. I can’t say for sure when the project will be finished, but it’s an interesting story.”

Tijesunimi did not stop there, he went on to disclose methodologies on how he wants to infiltrate the movie industry.

He had this to say, “I want to create a platform that creates contents that are inspiring and hope filled in an ever-increasing dark world, contents that enlighten and light up people lives.”
