Kenneth Petty, husband to American music superstar, Nicki Minaj has pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in California.

According to court documents, the 43-year-old pleaded guilty on Thursday during a virtual hearing with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Back in March 2020, Petty was arrested and initially pleaded not guilty. He eventually agreed to a plea deal in August 2021. He formally pleaded guilty on September 9 and is scheduled for sentencing on Monday, January 24 2022. He’s now facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release. However, if he receives the minimum sentence, then he could face as little as a five-year period of supervised release and a $100 court assessment fee

Kenneth Petty moved to California in July 2019 but did not register as a sex offender as is required. The law indicates that an offender must notify the Division of Criminal Justice Services within 10 days of any change of address.

Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in New York in 1995. He was 16 years old at the time and served four and a half years in prison for the offense. Jennifer Hough reported to the police that he raped her at knife point. Petty was charged with first-degree rape.

According to TMZ, Petty is also suing the State of New York. He’s trying to have his name removed from the sex offender registry.
