American singer and talk show host, Kelly Clarkson is replacing Ellen DeGeneres. The talk show host will be exiting her show next year after 19 years. This is following allegations of workplace toxicity at Ellen’s show.
DeGeneres had earlier revealed her plans to exit the show. The Kelly Clarkson show, also owned by NBC Universal, will take over the time slot. Clarkson’s show is currently in its second season.
However, from autumn 2022, the Kelly Clarkson show will now air on the Ellen DeGeneres show. The executive vice president of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, Tracie Wilson gave a statement.
He said: “Kelly and our entire production team put their heart, intent and incredible passion into making a show that resonates with people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds.”
“We’re working on some big plans for season three and are looking forward to becoming the premier show in daytime for years to come.”
Kelly Clarkson replaces Ellen!
39-year-old Clarkson came into the limelight in 2002. This was after she won the first season of the music talent show, American Idol. She has timeless classics like “Because of You” and “Since U Been Gone” to her name.
This is coming contrary to earlier speculation that Tiffany Haddish would take over the show. Fans have predicted that it was possible that Haddish would be chosen in the stead of DeGeneres. However, others have premeditated this move and termed it the most logical.
This is especially because Clarkson already has a show on the network. The Kelly Clarkson show was quick to gather momentum through its first season. It has played host to many fans favourites and celebrities.
DeGeneres on the other hand discarded claims that the toxic accusations was why she was leaving. She said she already knew she was signing her last contract this season. According to her, she was leaving only based on ‘instincts’.
