In the cheery holiday video, Katy Perry plays the younger hotter wife of Santa Claus. Instead of playing in the snow, Perry and Santa Claus prefer to chill by the pool.
Katy Perry sings about her type of Christmas in a 60s pop style while she and Santa get massages from reindeers. She sings about how Christmas is more about the feeling and the company of loved ones than the presents.
In “Cozy Little Christmas”, it seems like Katy Perry is channeling both the spirits of Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”.
Seeing as Mariah Carey has kept making millions off her Christmas song every year since its release in 1994, Katy Perry might be looking to cash in on this everlasting seasonal bag.
Combine that to the likes of Michael Buble and his classic 60s sound and you’ve got yourself an instant hit. We don’t know if this will be as much a hit as Mariah Carey’s or Eartha Kitt’s Christmas classics.
But with its catchy tune and nostalgic feel, it will definitely get a place on the charts.
