Kanye West: ‘The 2020 Election Cost Me My Marriage’

Kanye election

Everyone has heard the news of Kim Kardashian filing for divorce from Kanye West after 7 years of marriage and 4 children and there have been several takes on this.

Kanye, who has been relatively silent about the divorce believes his failed bid for president last year is ultimately what cost him his marriage. According to a source close to the rap star, Kanye thinks he and Kim would have been able to work things out if he never involved himself in the presidential election.

“He’s in that place of ‘if only,’” the source says. “‘If only I had done this, if only I hadn’t done that.’ He’s processing things. Kanye thinks that the presidential election run was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Before that, there was hope. After that, none.”

This revelation does not come as a shock because a lot of the erratic behaviour Kanye West displayed in the months leading up to the couple’s separation started while he was on the campaign trail.

In July 2020, the G.O.O.D. Music founder held his first campaign rally in South Carolina and wound up going on a tear-filled rant about Harriet Tubman and abortion. In the process, he admitted he tried to convince Kardashian to abort their first child North West using the Plan B pill.

During the rally, Kanye screamed, “I almost killed my daughter!” Between tears, he said if it hadn’t been for a “vision of God,” he would have allowed North to be “murdered.”

He added, “”Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world even when I didn’t want to,” he said. “She stood up and she protected that child.”

A source said at the time, Kardashian was “shocked” Kanye spoke about North at the rally and “furious that he shared something so private.”

Following the bizarre confession, Kanye continued his outlandish comments on Twitter; calling mother-in-law Kris Jenner a white supremacist and accusing Kim of having an affair with Meek Mill. As a result, Kim Kardashian addressed her husband’s bipolar disorder in an Instagram post, asking people for compassion.
