Kanye West made a shock return to music on Christmas Day with the surprise release of his brand new EP Emmanuel.
The 43-year-old rap superstar unleashed a 12-minute, five-track, extended play album; which was presented by his Sunday Service Choir and produced by Kanye West.
According to press materials, the music on the EP lean more towards “ancient and Latin inspired new music”. News reports also say that Kanye West released the EP on Christmas day in “celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.”
Kanye West’s last solo studio album Jesus Is King arrived last year following multiple delays. This year, he’s shared a few one-off singles; including Wash Us in the Blood featuring Travis Scott, DONDA, and Nah Nah. Kanye West planned to release a new album, also called DONDA, this summer. However, the LP never materialised.
This could be because he was busy with his presidential ambition throughout the year.
