Music is a quintessential aspect of the life of our interviewee. He was designed to become a superstar; he embodies it, carries himself with an aura that is ascertained to emerge a celebrity, a star or a pacesetter.
In this interview with EELive, burgeoning Nigerian recording artist Omotuyole George Chidiebere, who is better known as Jzty, walked us through his journey as an emerging singer-songwriter. The objective is to perform before a worldwide audience someday, albeit, ‘the journey of a thousand miles commences with a step’ as the proverbial saying goes.
Enroute to superstardom, Jzty has taken time to discuss his journey thus far.

INTRODUCTION: Who is Jzty?
“I’ve always thought it would be fun to share a bit about myself in the third person, so why not give it a try? It could be a great way to mix things up a bit! Meet Omotuyole George Chidiebere, affectionately known as JZTY—a dynamic force in the music scene who wears multiple hats as a singer, songwriter, record producer, and savvy businessman,” the singer stated.
“With roots grounded in Nigeria, JZTY embraces his dual citizenship, proudly representing his mother’s heritage from Imo State and his father’s lineage from Ondo State,” he continues. He continues, “JZTY’s journey is as fascinating as his music. He embarked on an academic adventure in marine biology, achieving a Bachelor of Science from the University of Lagos before diving deeper into marine pollution and management for his Master’s degree.”

Jzty mentioned to us about his life as a first son of three siblings. Talking about his family and life as a christian, Jzty said, “as the eldest of three brothers in a close-knit family of five, he has always been the guiding light for his siblings. Growing up in a devout Christian household, JZTY was immersed in music from the very start.”
He went further to say, “my mother’s love for music meant that choir practices were a regular part of his life. With a drumstick in one hand and a microphone in the other, he graced church stages and school events, belting out melodies and dancing to the infectious beats of P-Square during graduation events. Music wasn’t just a hobby for JZTY; it was a way of life.”

In the latter part of the interview, Jzty went on to state that music has always been an integral part of his family.
He added, ‘my family’s artistic flair—my mother harmonizing in the choir, his father keeping rhythm on the conga, and his younger brother Finesse producing incredible beats—infused his childhood with creativity and inspiration. This vibrant environment nurtured my passion for music and set the stage for his journey in the entertainment industry.

Jzty went forward to talk about his interests, artistic endeavours and how he got into the music industry.
“I’ve always loved music and expressing myself through art, whether it’s sketching, painting, acting, or miming”, the singer-songwriter stated.
“Art is my outlet, a way to convey my emotions and messages to the audience,” he continued.
“Music, in particular, has been a passion that I needed to pursue. During my time at Unilag, I made it a point to immerse myself in music, collaborating with friends, writing songs, and spending time in the studio. I officially began my music journey after completing my BSC in 2017, diving headfirst into recording. In school, I was more of the quiet observer, eager to learn from others and discover their talents. Over time, I embraced the business side of music, understanding the intricacies of marketing and branding.”
How Jzty Connects Music With The World
“My passion for music has taught me how everything is interconnected; you cannot have one without the other,” he said.
He went forward to say, “story so far: where are you now in your career? As for where I am now, it’s been a remarkable journey filled with highs and lows. Times are changing, as are people and their tastes in music, which requires adaptability in how I express myself. My sound and style have evolved, and I view this transformation as a metamorphosis on my path to discovering my true artistic identity.”
The Croc Personality
Jzty told us about the croc personality during our conversation. The singer-songwriter mentioned that the ideology has unveiled several important aspects of life to him.
Talking during the session, Jzty said, “I wanna talk about the “Croc” persona, my persona …lol you wanna know one of the attributes of the croc? Tough • Street-smart • Self-reliant • Passionate • Conceited • Ruthless when it comes to its goals, of-course.”
He went further to say, “They are often curious and show evidence of rapid learning, and that shows in my artistry if you pay attention. objectives: what do you intend to achieve with your music and how will you define success in your own terms. My aspirations are deeply intertwined with my vision of success.”

What are the future plans for your brand?
Jzty had this to say, “I’m really looking forward to some exciting projects and events coming up that I can’t wait to share with everyone. I have new songs out, and I’m currently collaborating with different producers, which has been a fantastic journey.”
He added, “My sound has evolved a lot, and if you’ve been following my music, you’ll notice I’m bringing some fresh flavors and unique approaches to the scene. What I want people to take away from my music is its eccentricity. There are countless ways to express oneself through music, from the varied sounds to the beat selections and vocals.”
Jzty went on to say, “I want my career to tell a story, and I hope that resonates with everyone. There’s often a perception that there’s a certain age for making music, but I believe that music knows no boundaries. It’s such a fluid expression, and my hope is that people see in me the importance of pursuing what you love, regardless of age.”
Quaalude: A Burgeoning Project
The singer-soongwriter went on to talk about his upcoming project.
He had this to say about the coming music project, “I have an upcoming project called “Quaalude” that I’m really eager to release. Although it was postponed due to some personal matters, it’s set to come out this year, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear it. Additionally, I’ll be dropping a new single soon and am currently in a reflective phase of my career where I’m focused on giving back to my audience. It’s all about pacing myself for a bigger comeback, and I truly believe it will be worth the wait.”
Other Creative Endeavours
Jzty added, “I’m also thrilled about my live session on TikTok called “R&B Thursdays.” This platform will be a space for me to dive into various aspects of rhythm and blues, while also exploring other genres like rap and reggae. I’ll invite guests to share their thoughts on R&B and discuss new releases.”
The talented singer-songwriter went further to talk about how the idea would assist his objective as a singer-songwriter. He said, “It’s a chance for me to connect with my audience on a deeper level and showcase more of my personality as an artist. When it comes to my brand, the possibilities feel endless. I’m working on evolving my identity—a blend of an ambitious businessman who loves music and a genuine lover of connection. I want to put myself out there and be relatable to people who share similar passions.”
He went on to say, “My goal is to reach a wider audience and to export my ideas and beliefs to the world. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me, and I hope everyone joins me for the ride! I’m working on developing a unique musical style that I like to call “Street Blues.” This sound incorporates elements of HIGHLIFE and various other genres, creating a fluid and dynamic blend that embraces a wide range of musical influences.”
He added, “My goal is to produce a sound that can resonate with diverse audiences and accommodate different forms of expression. freestyle talks- matters arising, etc. I want to take a moment to share some thoughts on a topic that has been on my mind lately: relationships and communication, particularly regarding women. I have a dear friend, who has been a significant influence in my music career, and we often engage in meaningful conversations about these subjects.
“Following February being the month of love, I find myself reflecting on the dynamics of relationships and the motivations that drive individuals, especially considering my experiences in Nigeria. In a recent discussion with another friend, I noted a common observation that some women might struggle with effective communication. While I have long considered this notion, hearing this perspective echoed in conversation underscored its validity.”
He further to say, “It raises questions about the pressures and circumstances that influence behavior in relationships. It can indeed be challenging to find someone genuine without ulterior motives, especially within certain societal contexts. It’s important to recognize that these perceptions may stem from broader social dynamics.”
In the concluding part of the interview, Jzty had this to say, “I also want to address the role of governance and the potential for improvement within our nation. There is always room for growth, both as individuals and as a collective society. If we all make a concerted effort to foster positive change, we can contribute to a better future for our community and country. Thank you for considering these reflections.”
