Jude Okoye and May D

NORTHSIDE Music boss, Jude Okoye has narrated how singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, begged him to sign him to his label last year (2019).

In an interview with MMMG CEO, Ubi Franklin, Okoye narrated how May D came to his house to plead for a label deal after turning his contract down years ago.

Okoye said he was having a conversation with May D over a cigarette and drink, when May D apologised for all he said against him in the past.

The music executive, however, revealed that he turned down May D’s request, stating that he is yet to heal from the wound his brothers’ (Psquare) separation caused him.

Okoye’s revelation came on the heels of the allegation peddled against him by May D.

In a series of tweets some days ago, the Gat Me High singer opened up on his fallout with Psquare. According to May D, Okoye and his brothers never believed in him, until he became famous.

He explained that they never believed he could make waves as a musician in the industry, and as a result, they were only willing to help him with their platform without a contract involved.

May D said when he rose to fame, Psquare and their manager (Okoye) suddenly wanted a contract with him and started pushing aggressively for a label deal, which didn’t sit well with him.

With Okoye’s revelation, it seems there is more to what transpired between Psquare and May D.
