Kelly Preston, the wife of John Travolta, an American actor-cum singer, has passed away after battling breast cancer for two years. She was 57.
Travolta, 66, confirmed her death in a statement on his Instagram page. According to him, she died on Sunday while on admission at the MD Anderson Cancer Center; a facility known as the largest in the US.
“It’s with a heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many,” he wrote.
“My family will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped; and her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side.
“Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother. So forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.”
Preston and John Travolta were married since 1991. She is survived by her husband and their two children — Benjamin, 9, and Ella, 20.
The couple had another son Jett who died in 2009 at the age of 16; from a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.
